When you clear this message, Excel may display the following alert:
This behavior occurs under the following conditions:
- You press ESCAPE to cancel the copy operation before you attempt to paste the selection.
-and-
- There is more than one row in the Copy area or there are more columns in the Copy area than in the list object.
CAUSE
If the selection that you want to paste requires the list to grow, the operation succeeds with an internal (marquee selection) paste operation, but not with an external paste operation from the Mac OS Clipboard.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use the sizing handle on the bottom right corner of the list object to expand the list to accommodate the Copy area, and then paste the selection into the New Row.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
