SYMPTOMS
When you start Windows NT Backup (Ntbackup.exe) to restore a storage group, if you click OK without specifying the temporary location for the log files, the following three informational error messages appear:
The first message is supposed to appear only once and the third message is not supposed to appear.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.

In Exchange 2000, a storage group is a grouping of databases that share a single transaction log set and therefore a single point of administration, backup, and restore.
If a server stops responding, each storage group can fail over to a different server within a pair of clustered servers. Storage groups are defined by using the Exchange Systems Manager snap-in for Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Multiple databases for each storage group can be created, and multiple storage groups are possible. This means that numerous separate databases are possible on one Exchange 2000 server.
Storage groups are the unit of backup. Administrators can back up an entire storage group so only one copy of the system transaction log set must be written to tape. However, each database can be restored individually while all of the other databases are still online and servicing other users. This allows for very fast restoration from backup, affecting a minimal number of users.
