SYMPTOMS
If an address is added with the AddIpAddress function, the DNS cache is not updated. This causes functions such as GetHostByName not to return the new address.
CAUSE
The AddIpAddress function notifies the other subsystems that the new address was added.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
