MORE INFORMATION
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
To enable detailed event log messages for KCC and Active Directory replication processes, use the following specific registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Diagnostics
Value Name: Knowledge Consistency Checker
Value Data: Verbose Level (0-5)
Default: 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Diagnostics

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Diagnostics

Events for the preceding settings can be logged with varying levels of detail. The data values for these REG_DWORD values have a valid range of 0-5, with level zero providing minimal logging detail and level five providing maximum detail.
The log that is created is named Ntfrs_nnn.log, where nnn is a number starting at 001. The log is located in the %SystemRoot%\Debug folder.
