Internet Explorer Loads Slowly with Very Large .pbk File in Windows NT

SYMPTOMS

You may experience a long delay when you start Internet Explorer. This behavior can occur when you are using a very large .pbk file (such as the Rasphone.pbk file).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Internet Explorer must parse the .pbk file when it starts. The hotfix described in this article prevents Internet Explorer from parsing the .pbk file data when it starts.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Internet Explorer version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer version 5.5 Service Pack 2.
