SYMPTOMS
The following error message may be logged in the Application event log on an Exchange 2000 Server computer:
Error number 0x8004011d may also be listed in the error message.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if Exchange 2000 does not correctly list the system attendant (MAD) mailbox in the Access Control List (ACL) when Exchange 2000 Setup either adds a new server to a mixed administrative group that has been fully upgraded to Exchange 2000 or upgrades the last Exchange Server 5.5 computer in a mixed administrative group. The group is still considered mixed because a Site Replication Service (SRS) still exists.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem:

- In Exchange System Manager, locate the administrative group, and then reset the service account password to encrypt it for the Exchange 2000 server.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
