SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade Microsoft Windows 98 to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you may notice that the icons on your Desktop toolbar have been rearranged, and that new, or duplicate items have been added. You may be able to move some icons back to their original location, or remove them entirely, whereas you are unable to move other toolbar icons at all, such as Internet Explorer, My Computer, and My Network Places.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you need to set the items back to their default settings by following these steps:
- Close the Desktop toolbar by right-clicking the toolbar, and then clicking Close.
- Reopen the Desktop toolbar by right-clicking the taskbar, clicking Toolbars, and then clicking Desktop. The items are then automatically set to the default settings.
You can delete duplicate items by right-clicking the item, and then clicking Delete. Please be aware that you are unable to delete certain icons at all, such as My Computer, My Network Places, and so forth.
