This article describes how to verify server and connector status by using Exchange System Manager.

You can view the list of servers in your organization and their current status to verify that they are operating. You can also verify that the connectors you have established between servers are available to transmit messages.

To verify server and connector status:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Click to expand Tools, and then click to expand Monitoring and Status.
  3. Click Status.

When you click Status you can view all of the connectors and servers in your organization. They are identified by administrative group and display a status of "Available," "Unreachable," or "Critical: Service not running."
