SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows Media Player version 6.4 to play a .wav file, you may may receive an access violation error message.

CAUSE

When this occurs, an access violation error message is generated because Media Player 6.4 uses the DirectX 3.0 version of the Quartz.dll file to process .wav files.
