SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Nickelodeon 3D Movie Maker for Windows to record a video movie you may receive one of the following messages:

Moviemk has caused an error in kernel32.dll.
Moviemk will now close.

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

Moviemk has caused an error in wmsdmod.dll.
Moviemk will now close.

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

Click Close to close Movie Maker.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you set your resolution higher than 16 bits. This setting is located under Colors on the Settings tab of the Display Properties window.

RESOLUTION

When you use Movie Maker, change your resolution to 16 bits or lower. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. On the Settings tab, click High Color (16-bit) or a lower setting in the Colors box.
  4. Click OK.
