SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based Acer TravelMate 720 computer resumes from hibernation, the computer may display a black screen if you initiated hibernation by pressing FN+F4.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the BIOS for the Acer TravelMate 720 is not compatible with the advanced power management implementation in Windows Me.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Acer for a BIOS update.

To recover from the black screen, you may need to turn off the computer and then restart.
