SYMPTOMS

When you are installing Microsoft Visio 2000, you may receive the following error message

Internal Error 2724


and the installation stops.

CAUSE

This behavior may be caused by any antivirus software or another program that was running in the background when you were trying to install Microsoft Visio.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, disable virus scanning software and quit or disable other open programs or services before you try to install Microsoft Visio.

If installation problems persist, use one of the follow methods to install Microsoft Visio.

NOTE: When you insert the Microsoft Visio CD-ROM into your computer, Setup may begin automatically. If you see a splash screen directly after you insert the CD-ROM, click Exit.

Method 1: Copy the Install Folder to Your Hard Disk

To copy the Visio Install folder to your hard disk, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Explorer, copy (or drag ) the Install folder from the Visio CD-ROM onto your desktop.
  2. Open the Install folder on your desktop, and then double-click Setup.exe.

Setup begins, and Microsoft Visio is installed on your computer.

Method 2: Run the Visio Installation Manager (VIM) Directly

To run the Visio Installation Manager (VIM) directly from the CD-ROM, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the \Install\Bin\Sp\VIM folder on the Visio CD-ROM.
  2. Double-click Setup.msi, and then click OK to start the installation.
