SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to create a trust between Windows 2000 and a MIT Kerberos realm, and you have disabled NetBIOS over Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), the trust does not work and you may receive the following error message:
If you have not disabled NetBIOS and you set up a trust with a MIT Kerberos realm, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
The snap-in is running a different error code than the one that is returned when you disable NetBIOS.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
