SYMPTOMS

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, when you import a Microsoft Excel 95 workbook that contains a defined name, the reference for that name may change.

For example, if the defined name 'AAA' in the Excel 95 workbook refers to

=x.xlw!Auto_Open_DoSomething.Auto_Open_DoSomething

when you open the workbook in a later version of Excel, the reference changes to:

=x.xlw!Auto_OpenAuto_Open(null char)ing.Auto_Open_DoSomethin

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the reference, after the workbook name, begins with Auto_.
