SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to configure a Microsoft FrontPage 2000 form to return results through e-mail, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you use a disk-based FrontPage Web on your local computer to test your form before you publish the Web to a Web server. This behavior occurs because server extensions e-mail forms do not work on a disk-based Web.
Some FrontPage components, referred to as browse-time components, interact with a Web server and do not function when you create a disk-based Web. Browse-time components function only when you use the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to browse to a Web server on which you have installed Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, open the disk-based Web in FrontPage, and then publish to a Web server with FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
If You Have Pages with an ASP File Extension
Publish Active Server Pages (ASP) pages to one of the following server configurations:
- Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000.
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0 for Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0.
- Peer Web Services for Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
- Microsoft Personal Web Server version 4.0 for Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98, or an earlier version that has the ASP engine installed.
If You Use Browse-Time Components
- You can enable FrontPage browse-time components by publishing your disk-based Web to an HTTP server.
