SUMMARY

Microsoft has released the Word 2000 SR-1 Mail Command Security Update, which eliminates a security vulnerability in Microsoft Word 2000. The vulnerability could allow the propagation of e-mail viruses on computers that are configured to use Word as the e-mail editor. This is true whether the Outlook E-mail Security Update is installed.

When Word is used as an e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook, a Word Object model command can be used to send e-mail messages. This update blocks the use of this command and provides increased security for users when the update is used in conjunction with the Outlook Security E-mail Update.
