SYMPTOMS
You cannot select an ellipse that has no height.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

To temporarily work around this problem, select the shape by dragging a bounding outline around the shape with the mouse pointer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior
- Use the Ellipse tool to draw an ellipse.
- Resize the ellipse so that it is flat (height of 0).
- Click somewhere on the page so that the shape is no longer selected.
- Try to select the ellipse by clicking it. The mouse pointer should turn white when you rest it over the shape, but note that it does not.
