BUG #: 8888 (plato7x)

SYMPTOMS

After you install both OLAP Services 7.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and the OLAP Manager add-in that comes with SP2 (Addins.exe), when you archive a database, the following error message occurs but the archive process continues and the "Archive successful" message appears when the archive completes:

Saving repository. Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another.

An attempt to restore the archived database causes the following error message to occur:

The database you are trying to restore has been created with the newer version of the Microsoft OLAP Services.
It cannot be restored on this version of the Microsoft OLAP Services.

This problem occurs only if the OLAP repository has already been migrated to SQL Server 7.0.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur if you upgrade to OLAP SP2 and the Archive/Restore add-in was previously installed from an earlier version.
