SYMPTOMS
In Word 2000 Japanese Edition, when you split several cells with the Merge cells before split option turned off, an invalid page fault or application error occurs.
Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Start Word 2000.
- Open a new document, and create a 1 x 3 table (3 columns and 1 row).
- Click the leftmost cell. On the Table menu, click Split Cells.
- Split the cell into 1 column, 2 rows.
- Select the center cell and the rightmost cell. On the Table menu, click Split Cells.
- Clear the Merge cells before split check box, and split the cells into 1 column, 2 rows.
Result: An invalid page fault or an application error occurs, with the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem is caused by a malfunction in the function of splitting rows in Word 2000 Japanese edition. When you clear the Merge cells before split check box, there is a problem in the process of updating the cache. So the operation to split cells is continued, and an application error occurs.
RESOLUTION
