SYMPTOMS
When you try to enable the Queuing functionality for a COM+ application on a computer where MSMQ is installed as a Dependent Client, the COM+ catalog may show an error indicating that it couldn't find a specified service, and log the following COM+ error in the Application Event Log:
CAUSE
The COM+ run-time environment is attempting to start the Message Queuing service on a computer that is configured as an MSMQ Dependent Client. This process doesn't work correctly (fails) because the Message Queuing service is not installed on an MSMQ Dependent Client.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
