SUMMARY

In Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, you install the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update in much the same way that you install Microsoft Office 2000. This article describes how to install the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update on Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition.

You may need to run the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update twice on Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition:

  • The first time is to update Office 2000 to SR-1/SR-1a.
  • The second time is to update Microsoft Internet Explorer to version 5.01.

NOTE: The Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update file O2ksr1adl.exe installs Internet Explorer 5.01 from the Internet Explorer Web site at the following URL:

To install the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update, it is recommended that you use the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel, with the All users begin with common application settings option selected. This runs the update in Install mode.

How to Update Office 2000

  1. Log on as a member of the Administrators group.
  2. Make sure that no users are connected to your Terminal Server.
  3. If you do not have the SR-1/SR-1a Update CD, download O2ksr1adl.exe.
  4. Double-click the O2ksr1adl.exe download.
  5. When prompted, specify any folder on your drive to expand the contents of the O2ksr1adl.exe package.
  6. When the extraction of the O2ksr1adl.exe files has finished, click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  7. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click Install, and then click Next.
  8. In the Run Installation Program dialog box, click Browse.
  9. In the root folder of Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update CD or the location where you extracted O2ksr1adl.exe, click Setup.exe, and then click OK.


Setup.exe is added to the Command line for installation program box.

  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Change User Option dialog box, click All users begin with common application settings, and then click Next.
  3. Click to accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  4. In the Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1a Update dialog box, click Update Office.
  5. Continue with the update. When you are prompted to restart the computer, log on as the same user, so that the Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update can complete the installation.

How to Update Internet Explorer

The following steps assume that you already extracted the files from O2ksr1adl.exe. Also, if you are using the O2ksr1adl.exe download, you need Internet connectivity for these steps to succeed. This is because the Internet Explorer 5.01 files are downloaded from the Microsoft Internet download site.

  1. Log on as a member of the Administrators group.
  2. Make sure that no users are connected to your Terminal Server.
  3. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  4. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click Install, and then click Next.
  5. In the Run Installation Program dialog box, click Browse.
  6. In the root folder of Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update CD or the location where you extracted O2ksr1adl.exe, click Setup.exe, and then click OK.


Setup.exe is added to the Command line for installation program box.

  1. Click Next.
