SUMMARY

You can use infrared file transfer by using the Wireless Link tool on a computer that is running Windows Millennium Edition (Me). The Wireless Link icon is available on the taskbar and the desktop when another computer is within range.

To configure Wireless Link in Windows Me, use the Wireless Link tool in Control Panel. The following options are available:

  • Display an icon on the taskbar indicating infrared activity - Disabling this option prevents the Wireless Link icon from appearing on the taskbar, even when another computer is within range. This setting is enabled by default.
  • Allow others to send files to your computer using infrared communications - You can receive files from other computers using infrared support, and you are prompted when files are sent. Disabling this option prevents others from sending files to your computer, but does not prevent you from sending files to others. This option is enabled by default.
  • Display status while receiving files - A progress indicator is displayed when files are being sent to your computer. This is enabled by default.
  • Default location for received files - The default location for received files is the desktop. You can this by using the Browse button.
