This article describes how to export addresses into Outlook from Outlook Express.

There are two ways to export addresses from your Outlook Express address book into Outlook:

  • Export the addresses directly into your Outlook Personal Address Book.


-or-

  • Export your Outlook Express address book to a comma separated text file, and then use the Import Wizard in Outlook to import the addresses to your Contacts folder.

Note: The Personal Address Book is only available with Outlook 2000 when you use the Corporate or Workgroup (CW) setup configuration. How to Export to your Personal Address Book

  1. Start Outlook Express.
  2. On the File menu, point to Export, and then click Address Book.
  3. Click Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book, and then click Export.
  4. When the addresses are exported and you receive a confirmation message, click OK, and then click Close.

How to Export to Your Outlook Contacts Folder to a Comma Separated Text File

  1. Start Outlook Express.
  2. On the File menu, point to Export, and then click Address Book.
  3. Click Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then click Export.
  4. Type the path and filename of the file, or click Browse to specify a location to save the file.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click the fields that you want to export, and then click Finish.
  7. Start Outlook 2000.
  8. On the File menu, click Import and Export.
  9. Click Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
  10. Click Comma Separated Values (Windows), and then click Next.
  11. Type the path and filename of the file, or click Browse to specify a location to find the file.
  12. Click the duplicate option that you want and then click Next.
  13. Click Contacts as the destination folder, click Next, and then click Finish.
