SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software, your computer may randomly stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the video driver that is installed on your computer is outdated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install the latest video driver for your video adapter.

To obtain the latest video driver for your video adapter, contact your computer manufacturer or video adapter manufacturer.

If this issue continues to occur after you install the latest video driver for your video adapter, you may be able to work around the issue by turning off graphics hardware acceleration on your computer:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
  3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider all the way to the left (the None position).
  4. Click OK, and then click Close.
  5. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.

To determine the manufacturer and model of the video adapter that is installed in your computer:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Click the plus sign (+) next to Display adapters to expand the branch. The manufacturer and model of your video adapter is listed in the Display adapters branch.

  • 3D Graphics Pro Turbo
  • 3D Rage II Plus
  • 3D XPRESSION+
  • ATI 3D Rage II
  • Number Nine S3 Savage 4
  • SIS 5597/5598
