SYMPTOMS

When you create a site that does not have a domain controller, domain controllers from other sites are assigned to cover the site. After you install a domain controller at this site, the Domain Name System (DNS) records that point to the domain controllers in the other site should be removed so that only local domain controllers validate logons. However, Netlogon does not remove these records.

CAUSE

If you have a site without domain controllers, domain controllers in other sites handle the DNS records for that site. If a domain controller later comes online in the site, the DNS records should be deregistered in that site, but they are not.

RESOLUTION
