SYMPTOMS

When you place the Outlook View control on a custom Outlook form and then publish the form, you may receive the following error message:

Unable to publish the form due to a MAPI error.

If you try to delete the Outlook View control from the form, you receive the following error message:

Could not delete the Controls. Unspecified Error.

CAUSE

You placed the Outlook View control on a MultiPage control. This results in a damaged form.

RESOLUTION

After you receive the above error messages, the form is damaged and there is no way to fix it. You need to create a new form and copy and paste the controls and any other custom form elements, such as Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) code, from the old form to the new one.

For additional information about problems you should be aware of when you copy and paste controls on a form, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

On the new form, alter the design of the form so that you can place the View control directly on an Outlook form page and avoid placing the control on a MultiPage control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

You may also receive unexpected error messages if you place the MultiPage and Outlook View controls on a Microsoft Office Visual Basic for Applications UserForm. For example, in Microsoft Word you receive a disk is full error message when you save changes to the template that contains the UserForm.

The View control is available from the Microsoft Outlook Team Folders Kit and allows you to display the contents of an Outlook folder within a custom user interface.
