SYMPTOMS

If you rename or remove a Microsoft Windows 2000 site and Exchange 2000 Server is installed in the site, you may receive the following error message:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: General
Event ID: 1005
Date: 3/30/2000
Time: 3:24:48 AM
User: N/A
Computer: ServerName
Description:
Unexpected error No site name is available for this machine. Facility: Win32 ID no: c007077f Microsoft Exchange System Attendant occurred.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Sites and Services snap-in to configure subnets for the site in which you want the Exchange 2000 Server computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

The Exchange 2000 Server computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address must fall in a subnet that corresponds to a site. When there is only one site, Windows 2000 uses that site. If there was only one site before you restructured the site, and now there are additional sites, the server may experience the symptoms that are described in this article.
