SYMPTOMS

When you use the Windows Millennium Edition (Me) drivers for the NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD video adapter that is included with Toshiba Libretto 100-series computers, you may not be able to use 800 X 480 resolution, which is a supported resolution for this video adapter.

CAUSE

The Nmgc.inf file specifies a default resolution of 800 X 600 for the MagicGraph 128XD video adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Update the MagicGraph 128XD Video Driver

To obtain the latest NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD video driver for the Toshiba Libretto series, visit the following Toshiba Web site:

Edit the Nmgc.inf File

  1. Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to open the Nmgc.inf file in the Windows\Inf folder.
  2. In the [Driver.AddReg_NM4] section of the file, change the following line

    HKR,DEFAULT,Mode,,"8,800,600"

    to:

    HKR,DEFAULT,Mode,,"8,800,480"

  3. In the [Driver.AddReg_NM4] section, add the following lines:

    HKR,"MODES\8\800,480",,,"60,75,85"

    HKR,"MODES\16\800,480"

    HKR,"MODES\24\800,480"

  4. Save and then close the file.
  5. Restart the computer.
