FIX: VS6 SP4 BETA: Version Does Not Update Visual J++ Files

SYMPTOMS

When you install Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4, English (ENU) version (build 8791), both the Msjava.lib file and the Pkginst.exe file are not updated in Visual J++ version 6.0.



CAUSE

This is a known bug in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4, ENU version (build 8791).



RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the released-to-market (RTM) version of Visual Studio Service Pack 4.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4 build 8791. This bug was corrected in the release-to-market version of Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\Lib\Msjava.lib

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Setup\1033\Pkginst.exe

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server, ENU version.
  2. Install the complete Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition, ENU version.
  3. Install Visual J++ 6.0 Professional, ENU version (client only).
  4. Install Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 4, ENU version (build 8791).
