SYMPTOMS
If you insert an Access Snapshot file into PowerPoint 97, a border appears around the snapshot object. In addition, the object may be too large for its border (zoomed) or cut off on one or more edges.
If you manually change the zoom level by double-clicking the snapshot object, and then manually crop the object so that all of the information is visible, the object reverts to its previous condition, or a similarly distorted state, when you save the presentation or you change to a different slide in PowerPoint.
This behavior does not occur in other programs, such as Microsoft Word 97.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, cut the snapshot object from Microsoft Word 97 and paste it as an enhanced metafile in PowerPoint 97.
- In Microsoft Word 97, click Object on the Insert menu.
- Click the Create from File tab, and then click Browse.
- Browse to your snapshot object; click OK, and then click OK again.
- Double-click the snapshot object.
- Adjust the zoom level of the snapshot object so that the entire object is visible in Word.
The object may be very small. It will be enlarged later inside PowerPoint.
- Adjust the borders of the snapshot object so that only the object that you want is visible. You must do this while the object is still active. (The object is active if it has a thick, hashed border around it.)
- When you are finished, click anywhere outside the snapshot object so that it is no longer selected.
- Click the object once to select it, but do not make it active.
Eight, white sizing handles appear around the object, but no thick border.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Open PowerPoint.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, click Picture (Enhanced Metafile), and then click OK.
- Resize the object as necessary by using the sizing handles.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 97.
