SUMMARY
In Exchange 2000, the Exchange Installable File System (IFS) allows users file-level access to content that is stored in the Exchange 2000 databases. By default, Exchange 2000 assigns the drive letter M for IFS and creates an initial subdirectory (in the form of a domain name).
For example, if you view the contents of drive M drive from a command prompt, you might see output similar to the following:
M:\> dir
Volume in drive M is Exchange
Volume Serial Number is 00A9-8AC7
Directory of M:\
04/11/2000 11:37a <DIR> EXAMPLE.MICROSOFT.COM

In this example, the domain name, "EXAMPLE.MICROSOFT.COM," is generated based on the default recipient policy. If you modify the SMTP address generation rule of the default policy SMTP, the domain name presented by IFS is also updated based on your change to the recipient policy.
