SUMMARY

You can configure Internet Explorer to automatically dial your Internet service provider (ISP) when you start Internet Explorer, or when you try to view a Web site. Under some conditions, you may want to disable this feature. For example, you may want to disable automatic dialing if you have more than one ISP, or for troubleshooting purposes. This article describes how to prevent automatic dialing.

MORE INFORMATION

To prevent automatic dialing in Internet Explorer:

  1. Start Internet Explorer, and then click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Connections tab, click Never dial a connection, and then click OK.

NOTE: You can change this setting later. To do so, repeat these steps, but click Always dial my default connection or Dial whenever a network connection is not present in step 2, and then click OK.
