SYMPTOMS
Following an upgrade to Windows Millennium Edition (Me), the Seagate Direct Tape Access 3.0 tape backup software startup stops with the following error message:
CAUSE
During Windows Me Setup (upgrade only) the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\aifsmw
is deleted as well as the file it references:
C:\Progra~1\DIRECT~1\SYSTEM\Aifsmw.386
