SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to view graphic images in Windows Explorer, you may receive a random general protection fault (GPF) or Windows Explorer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This issue can occur if you select the View Thumbnail option and the following registry key is is configured to use the image/xbm value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.jpg\Content
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Internet Explorer version 5.01. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
