SYMPTOMS

The Hibernate and Standby features are not available when you use the Power Options tool in Control Panel or when you shut down the computer.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the computer is using a VGA video driver. The VGA driver supplies basic video functionality only. The VGA driver does not supply power management functionality, because that functionality is specific to individual video cards.

RESOLUTION

To make the Hibernate and Standby options available, install the correct video driver.
