SYMPTOMS
When you are running Windows 2000 Setup, the server may stop responding (hang) with the following error message after text-mode Setup finishes:
This behavior may occur if you are using a Compaq Smart Array controller with an older Array device driver, and the boot partition is larger than 5 GB.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the information in the master boot record (MBR) that points to the boot partition is incorrect and Windows 2000 is unable to finish booting.
The information in the MBR is incorrect because of a problem in the Cpqarray.sys driver that returns corrupted information to Setup when it attempts to read the size and capacity of the drive. This results in Setup writing incorrect data to the MBR.
