Summary:
If you attach the >“=” in MS-DOS to anything (for example, DIR >“=”, CHKDSK >“=”, etc.), the system stops (hangs). The system also stops if you substitute any command delimiter (TAB,LF,’‘,’=‘,’,’,) for the “=”.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MS-DOS versions 3.20 and 3.21. This problem was corrected in MS-DOS version 3.30.
This problem is related to command-line processing, which contains some sort of redirection and a “=” character on the same line. The command line processes this character incorrectly and goes into an infinite loop.
