SYMPTOMS
If you receive a message, and then forward this message to another recipient while using a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) client, you may lose the fidelity of the original message.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
MORE INFORMATION
The behavior described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, occurs in the following scenario:
- The recipient of an incoming SMTP message opens this message in Microsoft Outlook.
- The message is forwarded to the same user in Outlook.
- Both of these messages are downloaded using a Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) client.
During this process, the message fidelity of the original message is lost.
