SYMPTOMS
When you try to create a Dial-Up Networking connection with the German version of Windows 98 Second Edition, you may be unable to select certain countries/regions to connect to.
CAUSE
The problem is caused by an faulty entry in the string table. All countries/regions with country/region codes starting with 8xx and 9xx are missing in the German version of the Tapisrv.exe file.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
