SYMPTOMS
When you try to view a page that might contain unsafe ActiveX controls, you may not be able to view the page and you do not receive any prompt that asks you about changing your security settings. This behavior occurs if your Internet Explorer security is set to Medium.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Medium zone security option disables scripting objects that are not marked as safe for scripting. You do not receive a prompt because Medium is the default setting for intranet and local sites.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, configure Internet Explorer to prompt you to change the security settings in the Internet zone when you view a page that might have unsafe ActiveX object scripting:
- In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Prompt in the Download unsigned ActiveX controls list, click OK, and then click OK again.
