SYMPTOMS
When you try to install Internet Explorer on your Microsoft Windows 95-based computer, you may experience the following symptoms:
- Setup may not initialize.
- An hourglass pointer indicating activity may appear very briefly, or may not appear at all.
Also, reinstalling Windows 95 may not correct the issue.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if an Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) component is damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Obtain DCOM95 version 1.3 for Windows 95. It is available on the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 CD-ROM and on the Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 CD-ROM (Enterprise, Professional, and Standard editions) in the \Pro\Tools\DCOM95 folder, or from the following Microsoft Web site:
- Double-click the Dcom95.exe file, and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Note that this process requires you to restart your computer upon completion.
