The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you use the Disk Administrator tool (Windisk.exe) from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 in Windows 2000, the master boot record (MBR) on your hard disk may be overwritten. Disk Administrator assumes that it has not been used with the hard disk previously and prompts you for permission to write a disk signature. If you allow the disk signature to be written, you may experience any of the following symptoms:
CAUSEYou may run Disk Administrator (Windisk.exe) inadvertently from the Windows NT 4.0 folder in a dual-boot configuration.
RESOLUTIONDo not use Windows NT 4.0 disk management utilities, such as Disk Administrator, in Windows 2000. Use the Windows 2000 Disk Management snap-in in Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Additional query words: Keywords : kberrmsg kbtool |
