SUMMARY
Private interconnects that have no physical route outside the network should not be configured for Domain Name System (DNS) or Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS), or have a default gateway.

An adapter that is configured for internal cluster use only (that does not have a physical route outside the host) may cause problems that appear to be related to an external router. Typically, everything functions normally inside the server's subnet. However, outside the subnet, the reply to a request may be routed to the private interconnect and operations may not succeed because of TCP/IP misroutes.
