SYMPTOMS

You lose your connection to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) after checking for new e-mail, even though Outlook is configured to remain online when finished sending, receiving, or updating information. This happens whether you have Outlook set to automatically check for new messages at a predetermined interval, or you check manually.

CAUSE

You have Symantec WinFax Starter Edition installed, and it is configured to automatically receive faxes.

WORKAROUND

Turn off the option to automatically receive faxes:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Fax tab, click to clear Automatically receive fax, and click OK.
