SYMPTOMS

If you print from Microsoft PowerPoint to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) 4500 DN Color Printer, you may not receive any output from the printer, nor do you receive any error messages. This behavior only occurs when you print from PowerPoint. Other programs are able to print normally. Also, PowerPoint files print correctly to other printers.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by the Hewlett-Packard 4500 DN Color Printer driver. Other drivers do not cause this behavior.

WORKAROUND

Download and install the Hewlett-Packard 5M Color printer driver. This driver successfully emulates the driver for the 4500 DN print device, and you will be able to print normally.

This issue has been tested with the 2.01 versions of the 4500 DN print driver, both PCL and PostScript. Check the Hewlett-Packard Web site often for updated drivers for your print device.
