SYMPTOMS

When you click the Custom Types tab in the ChartWizard - Step 1 of 4 - Chart Type dialog box, only one custom chart type is available.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You are running version 9.0 of the Macintosh System Software (Mac OS).
  • Your computer has been set up to use multiple user accounts.

When your computer is set up to use multiple user accounts, the Excel Chart Gallery (8) file is not migrated to your Preferences folder the first time that you run Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:

  1. If the Chart Wizard is displayed, click Cancel.
  2. Insert your Microsoft Office 98 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

NOTE: If you receive the following error message

You do not have access privileges to use this CD/DVD-ROM.

then the administrator for your computer must follow these steps.
  3. Drag the Excel Chart Gallery (8) file from the Office Custom Install:Installer Files folder on your Office 98 CD-ROM to the Users:Username:Preferences folder on your hard disk where Username is your user name.
