SYMPTOMS

After you install fixed-pitched fonts in the Fonts folder, they may not appear on the Fonts tab in the properties for the MS-DOS console. However, when you install the same fonts in Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98, the fonts may be available.

CAUSE

Windows NT and Windows 2000 use a higher font requirement standard for terminal sessions (such as Cmd.exe, telnet sessions, and so on) than Windows 95/98. If these requirements are not met, the font is not displayed as an available font on the Fonts tab in the MS-DOS console properties.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
