SYMPTOMS

When you try to import mail or news account settings in Microsoft Outlook Express, you may receive the following error message:

No other mail or news accounts could be found.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you click File, point to Import, and then click Mail Account Settings or News Account Settings.

RESOLUTION

To properly import mail or news account settings, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. On the Mail (or News) tab, click Import.
  3. Browse to and click the file you want to import, and then click Open.
  4. Click Close.


MORE INFORMATION

The import feature on the File menu is designed to import information from other e-mail and newsgroup programs. You cannot specify the source of the files.
