SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Word 2000 Supplemental Macros Setup program to reinstall the files, the Macros9.dot template file is not reinstalled (replaced).

WORKAROUND

To reinstall the Macros9.dot template file, remove and then install the Word 2000 Supplemental Macros.

Remove Supplemental Macros

To remove the Word 2000 Supplemental Macros, do the following:

1. Quit all Windows applications.
2. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Word Supplemental Macros and click Add/Remove.
5. In the Add/Remove Application dialog box, click Remove All and then click Next.
6. When the Microsoft Word Supplemental Macros have been uninstalled, click Finish.

Install Supplemental Macros

To reinstall the Word 2000 Supplemental Macros, do the following:

1. Do one of the following:
   • In your Web browser, connect to the following Microsoft Web address

     http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/supmacros.aspx

     and click Download Now. In the File Download dialog box, click to select Run this program from its current location and then click OK.
     
     

     -or-
   • If you saved this program to your disk, do the following:
     1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
     2. In the Run dialog box, click Browse.
     3. Click to select the Macros.exe file and click Open.
        
        NOTE: You may need to change the Look in box to the folder that you saved the Macros.exe file to before you can select this file.
     4. In the Run dialog box, click OK.
2. In the Microsoft Word Supplemental Macros Setup dialog box, click Next.
3. In the License Agreement dialog box, click I accept the License Agreement and then click Next.
   
   NOTE: If you do not agree to the license agreement, the Word 2000 Supplemental Macros will not be installed.
4. In the Destination Directory dialog box, click Next.
   
   NOTE: By default, the Word 2000 Supplemental Macros are installed to the following folder:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Samples

5. In the Start Installation dialog box, click Next.
6. After the Microsoft Word Supplemental Macros have been installed, click Finish.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
