APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q239297

SYMPTOMS

When you want to change the default font for a Microsoft Works 2000 Spreadsheet or Works 2000 Database, the changes do not take effect until all instances of the Works 2000 Spreadsheet and Works 2000 Database are closed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the default font style change does not occur until the program or programs close.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem you can change the format of the font in an individual cell of a Spreadsheet, or a single field of a Database. To change the format of a font in a Spreadsheet cell or Database field, follow these steps:

  1. Select the cell that you want.
  2. On the Format menu, click Font and Style.
  3. On the Font tab, select the Font, Size, and Color you want, and then click OK. The font in the Spreadsheet cell, or Database field immediately changes to the new format.

To permanently change the font style for Works 2000 Spreadsheet or Database, follow these steps:

NOTE: Perform these steps before you begin to enter data into the Spreadsheet or Database.

  1. Start Works 2000 Spreadsheet (or Database).
  2. On the Format menu, click Font and Style.
  3. On the Font tab, select the Font, Size, and Color you want, and then click Set Default.
  4. Close Works 2000 Spreadsheet (or Database). When you next open the Works 2000 Spreadsheet or Database the new font default format is effective.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
